While it is exciting and joyful to welcome a new baby, pregnancy and new parenthood can also be a challenging transition that can at times feel overwhelming and isolating. Here in Massachusetts, we are fortunate to benefit from the firm commitment statewide to support maternal and child health. The municipalities that comprise the Merrimack Valley Public Health Alliance form a strong community ready to support young families in this stage of life. The mission of our upcoming Maternal, Child, and Health programming event, Bright Beginnings: A Community Baby Shower, is to empower and celebrate families by providing essential resources and trusted health education. We aim to create a nurturing community where every baby has a strong start and caregivers find the support they need. In alignment with this mission, the baby shower will be free and open to all new and expecting parents and caregivers, supporting all families who would benefit from these resources.
Expectant and new parents and caregivers should mark their calendars for Saturday, September 26, 2026 from 1pm to 3pm for Bright Beginnings: A Community Baby Shower.
The event will take place at Amesbury High School and feature resources such as WIC, the Anna Jaques Hospital Birth Center Staff, car seat installation checks by appointment, Early Intervention, physical therapists, and more. Planned giveaways include tote bags with essential items and resources (while supplies last), raffles, and a free baby boutique of gently used baby gear and clothing. The afternoon is expected to be a fun and family-friendly chance to connect with practitioners and family supports in the Merrimack Valley.
